Newton man has been raising money for Dana Farber childhood cancer patient for 29 years
The Newton man has been fundraising for children with cancer for nearly 30 years. “My mother’s advice is ‘do the right thing’. Sammy Davis, 55, has spent the past 29 years raising funds for pediatric patients at Dana’s Farber Cancer Institute, especially Jimmy Funds his clinic. O’Shea is always with him. She died in 2010 when she was six years old, inspiring him to reach her fundraising goals. Over the years, Davis said he raised nearly $50,000 for Ferber’s holiday shopping program. New Year’s Eve is a special time and we try to make it as fun as we can, but clearly the family feels the cancer diagnosis especially around the time of the year-end,” said Dana Farber’s Child His Life.
