NEW YORK, Oct. 3, 2022 — Immerok developer of serverless Apache Flink cloud platform for real-time stream processing today closes $17 million seed funding round led by Cusp Capital, 468 Capital, Cortical Ventures and Essence announced that it did. Participation from VCs and multiple angel investors, including Apache Flink co-creator Stephan Ewen.
100% Flink, 0% Operations
Co-founded by a group of Apache Flink experts, including many committers and PMC members, Immerok is dedicated to providing developers with the best platform for building, running, and supporting Flink-based stream processing applications. Our mission is to help businesses profit from real-time data. A cloud that doesn’t require costly infrastructure expertise.
Immerok co-founder and CEO Holger Temme said: “Stream processing, and with it Apache Flink, is the foundation of these systems, and until now, organizations needed experts to build, operate, and scale these streaming applications—expensive and scarce experts. Immerok makes it easier for organizations to build modern real-time systems by bridging the existing gap between stream processing and cloud-native applications.”
The full power of Apache Flink
Apache Flink is an open source stream processing engine that already powers many of the world’s largest real-time e-commerce, entertainment, and financial services systems. Immerok services enable everyone to harness the full power of Flink to meet a variety of real-time business needs, from high-speed data pipelines and user-facing analytics to real-time ML/AI and transaction processing.
Erik de Nooij, engineering lead at ING, said: “From our POC in 2016, we have evolved into a global platform that has become the de facto standard for streaming applications within ING. By adopting a tighter integration with ING, this next step will put ING’s analytics capabilities into the hands of a wider audience for more data-driven decision-making. “
The company will use this funding to continue building and launching fully managed cloud services for Apache Flink, which are now available to AWS Early Access Program users. Immerok plans to expand support to other cloud platforms in the future. The company will also use the funds to grow its team. Immerok has 20 employees and plans to grow to 30 by the end of the year, and is recruiting for engineering, community relations, and customer success roles. Current vacancies are available on his Immerok Careers page.
Apache Flink co-creator Stephan Ewen said: “I have worked with the Immerok co-founders for years. I love working with them and am excited to work with them as an advisor.”
Real-time analytics go mainstream
Jan Sessenhausen, general partner at Cusp Capital, said: “To achieve this, enterprises need the ability to process vast amounts of data in real-time, non-stop and in a cost-effective manner. We have the vision, team and technology to make it happen and we are excited to partner with them on their journey.”
Florian Leibert of 468 Capital said: “We are very excited to be working with Immerok. We believe they are the right team to bring real-time computing into the mainstream and revolutionize the way businesses operate.”
