The Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce has received two major grants to benefit electric vehicle (EV) owners and the local environment, and will also have a pilot program for electric vehicle transportation services.
Thanks to the collaboration of the Chamber of Commerce, Climate Action Commission, City of Port Townsend, Jefferson County Public Utility District, Jefferson Healthcare, EV Charging Solutions, Force Mobility, ZEV Co-op and Cyan Strategy, Port Townsend will The dollar grant is aimed at installing and upgrading fast-charging electric vehicle stations in the western Puget Sound area.
The grant, a Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Partnership Award given to the Washington State Department of Transportation, will also benefit the communities of Poulsbo, Bainbridge Island, Kingston, Port Orchard and Vashon Island in the region.
The second grant that benefits Port Townsend is the Department of Transportation’s Zero Emission Access Program. This grant will implement a car-sharing pilot program in underserved or low- to middle-income communities with limited access to public transportation to provide clean fuel transportation. It is intended to The grant’s driving force, Zero Emission Vehicles Cooperative, is on a mission to provide communities with convenient, affordable and sustainable car-sharing options.
Two carshare vehicles, one at the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce and one at Jefferson Healthcare, will be subsidized, along with dedicated charging stations at both locations.
The EV EXPO will be held on Saturday, October 8th from 10am to 3pm at the Jefferson County Chamber on Jefferson Street. At this free public event, visitors will be able to see, touch and enjoy all kinds of EVs while enjoying sushi, tacos, ice cream and door prizes.
