palmetto, florida – More than $100,000 in disaster relief funds were stolen from Moose Lounge in Palmetto, and police said they tracked down the suspect.
On Tuesday, Palmetto police announced they had arrested William Ruff, who received funds raised by a local chapter for Moose Lodge in the South affected by Hurricane Ian.
Authorities said he was in Tampa and most of the stolen cash had been recovered.
Police have not disclosed how Rafe allegedly stole the money.

A 35-year-old man was recently found breaking into a hurricane relief vehicle on a road in Tampa, police said.
They added that they arrested Bryan Cirino Ortiz for stealing a power tool that was later recovered.

“There are so many people who are still in the dark, unable to have a hot meal at night because of the power outage,” said Crystal Clarke, spokesperson for the Tampa Police Department. It’s really frustrating when someone breaks into someone’s car.”
