The Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce and Innovate Newport will host three events at Innovate Newport as part of Rhode Island Startup Week, October 3-7.
The first event at Innovate Newport will take place on Monday, October 3rd from 10-11am with a Blue Venture Forum on the state of investment in blue technology. Guests will hear first-hand from investors about why they invest in blue tech companies, which companies and technologies are their priorities, how to secure investments, and other emerging opportunities in the sector.
Executive Director Erin Donovan Boyle said: , 4-5:30 p.m. In collaboration with the University of Rhode Island Research Foundation, participants will learn how industry, government, non-profit and academic partners are building existing regions, countries and regions. On Friday, October 7, from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm, the Chamber of Commerce and Social Enterprise Greenhouse will host a Startup Pitch Competition at Innovate Newport. The pitch competition saw 10 start-ups from various sectors pitch his three-minute pitch to a panel of judges and win his $1000 prize from the Chamber of Commerce and one year of free Chamber membership. Compete for a comprehensive prize package including: , legal, marketing, and business support start-up services.
“Storytelling is an engaging way to let people know about your business,” said Mollie Frazer Williams, Director of Innovation & Entrepreneurship at the Chamber of Commerce. Guests are invited to attend presentations and learn about all these new ventures starting in their communities on the final day of Startup Week in Rhode Island, designated Newport Day.
